SDA Bocconi’s Observatory on Diversity Management, in partnership with Hay Group, completed a longitudinal research project on the gender pay gap in Italy between 2005 and 2010, with the objective of assessing its presence and extent and to identify its trends in the Italian job market.
The study whose methodology of gathering wage differentials is of key importance, not only in terms of quantification, but also in terms of characterizing the phenomenon explores the topic by analyzing a sample of over 8,000 positions in multinational companies.
In addition to wage data, results of the analysis also provide a broader perspective of the phenomenon. Data is correlated to increases in the level of positions held and sectors and functional areas, observed through the gender variable.
